On behalf of the Gainesville Police Department and the City of Gainesville, I would like to personally thank you and the dedicated members of your agency for your generous support of our officers during the search for UF student Christian Aguilar. The Gainesville Police Department and the Aguilar family are deeply appreciative of your time and expertise.
Christian Aguilar’s story will always resonate with our community because like so many others he came to Gainesville to realize his dreams and aspirations by pursuing his university education. All of our law enforcement officers responded at the highest professional level in order to bring closure to the circumstances surrounding Christian’s disappearance. I could not be more proud of all the efforts that were in place during this difficult time, and I know that each of you share in that pride.
As an agency, the Gainesville Police Department still has much work to do for Christian and his family. Please know that we will continue to work closely with the State Attorney’s Office to prosecute this case.
