On behalf of the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission we would like to thank you for the outstanding efforts and assistance in the recovery of a second body from Palestine Lake. Law Enforcement agencies received a call for service on December 11, 2011 for a possible double drowning in a rural lake on the county line of Union and Columbia County.
Our units worked around the clock for days trying to locate a second drowning Victim. It was your agency and volunteers that unitized side scan technologies which quickly lead to the recovery of the second missing person. Through your efforts we were able to bring closer to the family during this tragedy. We cannot thank you enough, to include your volunteer Dan Word, for all the assistance you provided our agencies. Mr. Word is a current volunteer and posse member for the Union County Sheriff’s Office and continually lends his services whenever needed. He is an asset to your organization.
We know we have a friend and an agency ready to always assist us in any search and rescue efforts. Thank you again for being on our side and for the outstanding services you provide.
