Dear Ms. McKinney:
On October 13, 2010 the Jones County Mississippi Sheriff’s Department received the report of a missing woman. She was indentified to us as Mrs. Diane Rutkowski, a resident of Texas, who was visiting relatives in our county. We were further advised that she had some serious medical problems from a brain aneurism and was without her medication. Due to her medical condition our department began a county wide search for her which expanded to notification of surrounding counties and states.
After making cell phone contact with Mrs. Rutkowski, we determined that she was stranded on an interstate highway somewhere but she was unable to tell us her location. EquuSearch contacted our department and offered their assistance. With the assistance of Mr. Ralph Baird, we were able to contact the appropriate person with Verizon Wireless and requested they ping her cell phone. Verizon was successful in this endeavor and Mrs. Rutkowski was located in Mobile County Alabama on I-65. The Satsuma, Alabama Police Department quickly responded and arranged for Mrs. Rutkowski to be taken to a local hospital where she received treatment and was reunited with her family.
