Volunteer Searcher of the Month – Alvin Tipps – April, 2009

Posted on 15. Apr, 2009 by smckinney in Searcher of the Month

The heart of any organization such as Texas EquuSearch is the volunteers.  We have been blessed through the years with an incredible number of people who have enriched our program and touched our lives, as well as the lives of the families that we help on a daily basis.  To honor a few of those many volunteers, TES has started a “Volunteer of the Month” program.  We hope to highlight just a few of the many, many wonderful, dedicated individuals who serve the communities so proudly and so humbly throughout the country as we continue our mission.

Alvin Tipps

Alvin Tipps was chosen as our first “Searcher of the Month” because of his never-ending dedication to Texas EquuSearch. It doesn’t really matter what the weather is like, or how far it is … Alvin is there with his wife Jan, to help find another missing person. Alvin was born in Waco, and grew-up in the central Texas area. He was the only son born to Ethyl & Boyd Tipps. Alvin worked in machine shops for several years until he fulfilled his own dream and opened his own business. Alvin is well-known for the high-quality products he turns out for his clients. Alvin is the proud father of three daughters, and the step-father of two daughters and one son. He also has fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman until he started searching with Texas EquuSearch.  Now his passion is about helping to find missing people. He loves a good laugh and meeting new people. He currently fighting an illness, but hopes to be back real soon.

Awesome dude! Congratulations! Umm .. you get a free trip to Hawaii with that, don’t you? haha. Anyway, good job, Alvin. I, personally, can attest to why you are deserving of this. Hope to see you soon, but make sure you are well first. I wonder if TES will do this like Playboy. You could be Playmate of the … I mean Searcher of the Year!

    THATS MY DAD!!!
way to go! we are so proud of you and jan!
you are my hero! as well as everyone who does this type of heroic work voluntarily and unselfishly.
and to anyone reading this and knows my dad then you know he is just chompin’ at the bits to get back in there to join you guys. he is battling cancer right now and the staying at home is the hardest thing for him because he is so active! he would be there now if he had his way. there have been so many times that he has tried to talk jan into going on a search, against doctors orders, and she has had to stand firm and say no because she knows what is best for him. i pray for quick healing because i know you are driving jan nuts trying to keep you out of mischief.
i am so proud your my dad
    i love you guys

    Alvin,

Congratulations. No one deserves it more than you do. I have never forgotten the first day I met ya’ll. I was given a 4 wheeler to use and didn’t know how to drive it. I was so embarassed, but ya’ll stayed with me. Thank you. I am praying for a quick recovery for you. We need you back. There where will be someone new and we need you you and Jan to take them under your wings like I feel ya’ll did for me, that day.

    Alvin,
You and your darling wife Jan were on the very first search that I did with TES, and were one of the reasons that I joined the organization. Because of your dedication, your friendliness and your true devotion to the mission of finding missing people and giving the family some peace of mind, I decided that EquuSearch was an organization that I wanted to belong to. I have since been on several searches with you and Jan, and you have continued to be an inspiration to me. Thank you for all you do, for who you are, and for the difference you have made in the lives of so many. May your health quickly be restored and may you soon return to join TES in the searches where you are so desperately needed.
    Love,
    Barbie
