01/25/11 — It is with a heavy heart that we report remains were discovered today, which are believed to be those of Brian Reed. The coroner’s office will be making the positive identification. We want to thank all of the law enforcement officials and the many volunteers who were involved in this difficult search. We will post a complete list of names tomorrow. We could not have done this search without their invaluable help and tireless determination.
Please keep Brian’s family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time.
Reed Comforted Brother Was Found
“I just saw the sun come through the skies as he was being found and I thank God that he was found,” Ed said. “My gut feeling is saying, ‘yes’ [it is Brian] because it was the spot.”
“It’s been tough, but God is good. To have found our brother today brings closure and knowing that he’s in a better place now and can rest in peace is more comforting than searching and not finding him at all,” Ed said.
Family members say that Brian suffered from mental health issues that may have played into the occurrences on that day.
“That’s the unanswered questions that we have to go through,” Ed said. “That’s something that we have to live with, [to] not truly know what [was] happening that day.”
The Reed family issued the following statement:
“We would like to thank all the agencies that worked persistently to recover our loved one. First, Mr. Tim Miller with Texas Equa Search, Team Watters, Inc., The Diver’s from Madcon Corporation, and the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Department who worked endlessly and would not give up. We would also like to thank St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department who also helped in the search. We appreciate all prayers and support from everyone throughout this trying time.”
