02/01/12 — I just heard from Debbie — Ron is off ventilator and is very alert. He is doing so well, and we know everyone’s prayers are being heard and answered. Thank you so much.

02/01/12 — Update from Debbie: I called the hospital at 3 a.m. and at 7 a.m. They told me Ron was stable all night, so that’s good. I slept really good last night first time in a few nights. I’ll keep all posted as new news come in. And again thank you all for your love and support.

01/31/12 — Ron had a triple bypass instead of quadruple, and the surgery went well. They were able to fix the arithmia. He will be in ICU until Friday — Debbie is with him in recovery at this time. Please continue saying prayers for our good friends and their family.

01/27/12 — One of our very valued members, Search Coordinator Ron Overman, has just learned that he is having emergency quadruple bypass surgery, but due to some issues that need to heal from a procedure he had today, it will not be performed until Tuesday, January 31, 2012, beginning at 6:30 a.m. We need all of our members and supporters to keep Ron, Debbie and all of their family members and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will update as we get information. He will remain at the VA Hospital in Houston, TX.

01/18/12 — Lacey Buenfil, age 25, was last seen on December 27, 2011 in the Ocala National Forest, FL. Lacey was last seen wearing a pink and purple shirt. It is not known what other clothes she was wearing. She has a C-Section scar. She was last seen riding in a dark colored truck with FL plates. Found Deceased: Nick Ibarra, 24 Yrs., Dallas, TX, 01/09/12

01/16/12 — Texas EquuSearch sent a sonar team to Dallas, TX this morning to assist the Dallas Police Department in locating Nick Ibarra. Please keep Nick’s family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time.

01/16/12 — Nick Ibarra, age 24, was last seen on January 9, 2012 at around 3:00 p.m. in the Trinity River near Colorado and I-35 in Dallas, TX. Nick was last seen wearing dark jeans and a hoody sweat shirt. He has a star tattoo on his neck, along with many more. Missing: William and Kathy Holloway, 63 and 61, respectively, Bogue Chitto River, St. Tammany Parish, LA, 12/11

01/02/12 — Members of Texas EquuSearch are assisting in the multi-agency search for a Baton Rouge couple missing along the Bogue Chitto River in St. Tammany Parish, LA. It is feared that William Holloway, 63, and his wife, Kathy, 61, drowned in the river. They last contacted a relative about 3 p.m. Tuesday, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, a passerby spotted their 14-foot aluminum, flat-bottom motorboat overturned on the Bogue Chitto’s waters. It was near a low spillway a mile from the Pearl River Navigational Canal’s Lock No. 3 boat launch on Sunday, January 1, 2012. Once notified of the situation, state wildlife agents said they retrieved the boat, which had some damage. Authorities discovered the couple’s car parked at the Lock No. 3 launch, and their possessions were abandoned at their campsite.

Searchers have been patrolling the shoreline and dragging the river. Friends and family of the missing have brought their own boats, including their son Thomas and daughter Elizabeth, offering crews extra sets of eyes and ice chests packed with sandwiches and beverages. Divers cannot be called out to the scene, DWF has noted, because the flow at the spillway is too turbulent, and concrete and log debris below the surface make such an operation even more treacherous.

Found Safe: Lan Nguyen, 25 Yrs., Katy, TX, 12/18/11

12/19/11 — Twenty five year-old Lan Nguyen was last seen on Sunday – December 18th 2011 in the area of Mason Rd. @ I-10 in Katy, Texas. He was last known to be wearing a black pea-coat style jacket and blue jeans. Lan frequents stores in the areas of Fry Rd. and Mason in Katy. Lan is in need of his medications and is of very slim build. He does wear glasses. 12/22/11 — The funeral for Justin Clause will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Willis, 12177 I-45 North, Willis, TX 77318. The viewing is from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the service is from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., the burial is from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., and lunch will be served from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please continue to keep Justin’s family and friends in your prayers. 12/20/11 — We are very sad to report that the body of Justin Claus has been located and recovered. We want to thank all of the Texas EquuSearch volunteers who aided in this search, along with the Montgomery County Constable’s Dive Team. Additionally, we want to express a special thank you to Dennis and Tammy Watters who drove from Illinois yesterday to assist with the search. Our Marine Sonic sonar equipment once again enabled us to locate another drowning victim. Please keep Justin’s family and friends in your prayers during their time of grief. This holiday season is going to be especially difficult for them. Thank you so much.

Below is the second portion of the episode of CBS 48 Hours special on The Killing Fields. As noted in an earlier post, in anticipation of the upcoming movie about the Texas Killing Fields, CBS 48 Hours wanted the real story from the people who lived it. Tim Miller was interviewed by CBS’ Erin Moriarty at length. Tim Miller’s daughter, Laura, was one of the four girls found in the location known as The Killing Fields. Heide Fye, Jane Doe and Janet Doe are the other three girls found there. All four cases are unsolved, along with the murders of @ least 30 other girls along the I-45 Corridor. Additionally, 48 Hours interviewed Captain Brian T. Goetschius and Mike Land (Retired) of the Texas City Police Department, along with some of the victims’ family members. The show aired on October 22, 2011 at 9:00 p.m. CDT/10:00 p.m. EST on CBS.

Found Deceased: Norris Demeritte, 53 Yrs., Union County, FL, 12/10/11

12/13/11 — Texas EquuSearch’s sonar team located and recovered the body of Norris Demeritte who drowned on Saturday, December 10, 2011. We would like to thank Dennis & Tammy Watters, Linda Bennett and Dan Word for their efforts in this case. We would also like to thank the crews from Union County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the U. S. Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife & Conservation and the Department of Corrections. Please keep Demeritte’s family in your prayers for the loss of not only Demeritte, but also his mother Emma Kelly who drowned as well. (Ms. Kelly’s body was recovered prior to Texas EquuSearch’s involvement in this case.)

12/12/11 — Texas EquuSearch is joining the search for Norris Demeritte. We have dispatched one of our sonar teams to Union County, Fla. to assist in the search on Palestine Lake. We will be assisting Crews from Union County, Columbia County, the U. S. Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife & Conservation and the Department of Corrections with the search.
