01/18/12 — Lacey Buenfil, age 25, was last seen on December 27, 2011 in the Ocala National Forest, FL. Lacey was last seen wearing a pink and purple shirt. It is not known what other clothes she was wearing. She has a C-Section scar. She was last seen riding in a dark colored truck with FL plates. Found Deceased: Norris Demeritte, 53 Yrs., Union County, FL, 12/10/11

12/13/11 — Texas EquuSearch’s sonar team located and recovered the body of Norris Demeritte who drowned on Saturday, December 10, 2011. We would like to thank Dennis & Tammy Watters, Linda Bennett and Dan Word for their efforts in this case. We would also like to thank the crews from Union County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the U. S. Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife & Conservation and the Department of Corrections. Please keep Demeritte’s family in your prayers for the loss of not only Demeritte, but also his mother Emma Kelly who drowned as well. (Ms. Kelly’s body was recovered prior to Texas EquuSearch’s involvement in this case.)

12/12/11 — Texas EquuSearch is joining the search for Norris Demeritte. We have dispatched one of our sonar teams to Union County, Fla. to assist in the search on Palestine Lake. We will be assisting Crews from Union County, Columbia County, the U. S. Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife & Conservation and the Department of Corrections with the search.

John Logan Passes Away, 2/10/10

02/12/10 — Yesterday, we received an email informing us that Lee County math teacher John Logan, who disappeared for three days in late January before he was found near Jacksonville, died Wednesday from the effects of a brain tumor. His truck was found January 25th in a ditch in Jacksonville, and he was located in nearby woods the next day by Jacksonville authorities and Florida members of the Texas EquuSearch. The Logans weren’t aware of the brain tumor at the time. Subsequent medical examinations discovered the problem. Funeral arrangements were incomplete late Thursday. Burial is scheduled Tuesday in Myakka City.

Please keep John’s family and friends in your prayers during their time of grief.

02/02/12 — Jarred Mitchell Harrell, the man who killed Somer Thompson, has agreed to plead guilty to her murder, along with various other charges. Please see the article below from The Florida Times Union, Jacksonville.com.

10/22/09 — It is with a heavy heart that we report the body of Somer Renee Thompson was located yesterday in a Georgia landfill. Please keep Somer’s family, friends and the entire community of Orange Park Florida in your thoughts and prayers during their time of grief. We would like to thank all of our volunteers, the community volunteers, the U.S. Navy, FDLE, Clay County Sheriff’s Office and all other supporting law enforcement agencies for their incredible work on this case. If it were not for the quick detective work on this case, little Somer’s body may never have been found. If you ask Tim Miller, he will tell you the only thing worse than losing a child is never knowing what happened to to them.

We now need to focus on finding the monster responsible for this tragedy and bring them to justice. We have all the confidence in the world that this will be accomplished.

10/20/09 — Somer Renee Thompson, age 7, was last seen on Monday, October 19, 2009 in the area of West Gano and Debarry Avenues in Orange Park, FL. She was wearing a black shirt under cranberry colored sweat suit, with pink stripes running down the arms and legs, possibly has a red bow in her hair; white hat and scarf. Please call the Clay County Sheriff at (877) 277-6911 if you have any information.

Another Life Saved: John Logan, 50 Yrs., Jacksonville, FL, 01/23/10

01/27/10 — We just spoke to John’s wife who reports that he is in ICU getting his fluids replenished. He is doing well at this time.

01/26/10 — Due to the quick response and dedication of Texas EquuSearch members, they have just recovered John Logan in a thick wooded area with very difficult serarching conditions. Unfortunately, if it wouldn’t have been for Texas EquuSearch and Law Enforcement working together, Mr. Logan would probably not have been recovered alive. Mr. Logan is being transferred to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Please keep him your thoughts and prayers during this time. We will continue to report his progress as it becomes available.

We want to thank our Florida members for a wonderful job and for their immediate action on this search.

01/25/10 — John Logan, age 50, was last seen on Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Jacksonville, FL. John was last seen wearing jeans, black shoes and a flannel shirt. He has a scar from a bullet on left chest and one on his left leg by his groin. Please call the Jacksonville County Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 if you have any information.

Texas EquuSearch will be assisting law enforcement on this search. We have all the searchers we need today. Thank you.
